Finally getting somewhere .......

I been trying to lose weight since June, althought I skipped July cuz of vacation ... I been exercising and counting calories 5 to 6 days a week. I wasn't really doing too well until I got a heart rate monitor (Polar FT7), and a food scale ... now I am doing pretty good I think. And I eat whatever I want on the weekends! And no exercising on Sunday. And I'm not killing myself with HIT exercise or anything crazy. Just walking, hiking, intervals of walking/jogging or going to the YMCA

I was over eating before because the pre-set calories on all these diet/fitness websites are so far off that it's crazy. Sometimes they are a ton over or a way under. My heart rate monitor tells me how many calories I actually burn ... at first I hated the thing. I'd hike and the website would say I burned 1000 or so calories ... but my heart rate monitor said only 500 or so... UGH lol But now I love the thing! It motivates me to do more or walk faster etc when I watch my heart rate or how many calories I'm burning at the moment.

Now that I got a food scale I am eating the right portions ... Although we have a love/hate relationship lol I either weight my food or I measure it, or if something says there is 14 in a serving ... I count out 14. No cheating or lying cuz I only hurt myself.

I keep track of my calories on MFP with a food and exercise log (  http://www.myfitnesspal.com/profile/alska - feel free to add me) and I use MapMyFitness (http://www.mapmyfitness.com/) to tell me how many miles I walk or hike, and how long it takes me. I am now starting to jog and I use the free C25K app (http://c25kfree.com/) to do it. It teaches me to build myself up to running a 5K (3.1 miles). I am on my 3rd week of C25K :)

So far I've lost 8.2 calories since getting serious with my heart rate monitor n my food scale, and measuring my food. I think that's about a pound a week!

I QuiT!

So yeah. I really hate to admit it, but I quit the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge. It was too brutal on my body, especially my joints! I felt the pain, but it wasn't the good pain! :(  So I decided to stop doing it. I pulled something the first week, but continued to exercise ... and it never got better. Now it seems to be feeling better. Walking didn't bother it, but all the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge stuff did.

At least I have come to realize that I can't take a Insanity Class at the YMCA ... prob'ly not even a Boot Camp one lol but maybe a Yoga one ;)

On a good note. I got a Polar FT7 for my birthday!!!!!! Geno bought it for me! I love the thing! I haven't figured out how to get it to show if I'm in a fat burning zone or a fitness improvement zone. I'll get that figured out though ... it just might take me awhile lol For those that don't know what it is... It's a heart rate monitor, and it will show your true calories burned from your own heart rate.... I love it! All those sites and apps and tools online for all of it are so far off on the calories burned! I was OVER EATING from it! I didn't know. I knew they were off, but not that far off!! Scary! So now I can eat the right amount of calories :) Did I mention I love it? I do! I DO! :D lol

As for exercising, I will be doing it still of course! I enjoy it. I did a short routine yesterday and then after dinner I went on a 4 mile walk in the park.

Here was the routine I did (in order) - 25 minute workout:

Warm up (5 Mins)

Crunchless Abs (10 Mins) 

Bigger Butt (5 Mins)

Cool Down (5 Mins)

Today I am going to take a break, maybe make some jewelry? :) I might go for a walk later though. I love walking! And it burns a lot of calories!!

Good Morning!

Well Today was Day 4 of the Bikini Body Mommy 90 Day Challenge. I have to admit that I didn't want to do it. I had to make myself do it. I'm just tired of getting sweaty. Sounds silly, but it's true.

I get up every morning, make coffee, feed the cat, water the plants n check the bird seed. Then do my workout. After I am down with my workout .. I don't even want the coffee I made! By then I'm so hot that all I want is something cold. So I put ice in my coffee ... n I grin n bear it. It's gross unless I add flavor to it and milk... which is only added calories. I should just skip the coffee but I can't bring myself to it yet. So for now I am grin n bearin' it lol

Well, I am off to make breakfast, whatever that may be!

11 more days n I get to weigh myself. I hope all this sweating pays off!! ;)

Bikini Body Mommy 90 Day Challenge

So today I started the bikini body mommy 90 day challenge. I feel like I'm not exercising enough with it. Maybe I wasn't pushing myself enough or something. Hoping tomorrow is better lol

I can't afford to do the meal plan to go with it, so I am just going to count calories instead. Which is hard when I make stuff like homemade soup or something.

Right now I am eating a healthy breakfast, Yoplait, bluebarries, granola and almonds and it's costing me 360 calories :(

I had to drop off a movie at the library today, I couldn't renew it cuz someone requested it. Our YMCA is right next door, really it is. They share the same driveway.... so lol I had to go, even though I didn't feel like exercising at all.I had to make the trip worth wild I guess lol I got done exercising and headed off to the grocery store which is right down the street ... While driving there I get into my ? I really don't know what to call it. It's so weird ... It's a mean craving for raw vegetables ... After exercising (or walking/hiking etc) I want raw vegetables. It's not a normal "want" ... it's more like a terrible "NEED!" ... so I get to the grocery store and go in and what is the first thing I see? RAW VEGETABLES! Ugh ... I kept telling myself "I know I have some at home I can eat since I slurged to buy some last time I exercised" ... of course I couldn't leave without any, I did tried lol I bought some iceberg lettuce which I don't like much but I get it for my daughter and my other half, and some romaine lettuce for me, and tomatoes which made me think of BLTs ... So that's what's for dinner BLTs ... Mine will be a lettuce wraps. I got a cucumber too ... maybe I can put that on my wrap too! I'm gonna try it. I take the big leaves of romaine lettuce and put on a piece of bacon on it, plus tomatoes and a ton of black pepper, and drizzle of ranch dressing and then I try to roll them up, but they are more like a taco. I LOVE THEM! I haven't made them for awhile since it's been cold. Anyways, so I get home, climb to my 3rd floor apt while dying for my raw veggies, put all the groeries away and finally got out the celery and radishes ... cleaned them, and ate a ton as if I haven't ate in a month! Strange stuff huh? lol

I was curious this morning lol ... I wanted to find a new area to walk just for a change. So I went in the opposite direction than I usually go which ended up with the paved walking path ending on State Rd. So I went past State Rd in hopes paved walking path would appear but it didn't. So I turned around and turned on State Rd and drove all the way to Hinkley! I made it there by myself! I was so happy! I prayed the whole time to find it and to find my way back lol I did it ... I can't believe it! But I was too scared to get off of State Rd in fear of getting lost (there's something wrong with our GPS). I found the The Buzzard's Roost and decided to turn and park there ... Across from it was Scenic Overview ... The parks here are just breathtaking!

It was simply beautiful, but the hills where killer! lol I couldn't take any more pictures because I turned my Endomondo tracker on to track my miles and stuff. But I walked to the boat house and around to Hinkley Lake and to Bellus Rd and then turned around to head back. I walked 3.70 miles and burned 506 calories! Wahoo!

Came home and had lunch ... Yonanas (icecream from only frozen fruit)!! I used bananas, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, pineapple, and an orange slice or two and mixed in a spoonful of peanut butter after it was done. YUMMMMM

Well I am off! I didn't realize it was so late.

Shine your sink!

Years and years ago I used to do the "flylady cleaning routines" (flylady.net) and I still hear it in the back of my head "shine your sink!" everytime I see my kitchen a mess with dirty dishes. I hate dirty dishes, I hate them sitting on the counter, I hate them sitting in the in the sink, I hate them sitting on the drying rack cluttering it up. But mostly I hate washing them! UGH -- Last night I left the dirty dishes sit over night and said I'd get them in the morning... I got up to make coffee and the stress of "shine your sink!" hit me. So I hurried up with making coffee just to "shine your sink!" and forgot to put the coffee pot on the coffee maker ... lol Thank God I heard it sizzling in time to put the pot on it before it overflowed too much ... else I would of had to "shine your floor!".
